Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and security-conscious individual to join our team as an Airport Cargo Picker. This critical role involves the secure and efficient handling of cargo at the City of Derry Airport, ensuring all parcels and freight are processed according to strict security protocols and operational standards. You will be responsible for picking, sorting, scanning, and loading cargo, playing a vital part in our global logistics network. Due to the nature of the cargo and the airport environment, a high level of attention to detail, adherence to security procedures, and reliability are paramount. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently pick and sort cargo from designated areas.
- Load and unload freight from vehicles and aircraft using appropriate equipment.
- Verify cargo details against manifests and ensure accurate scanning and documentation.
- Adhere strictly to all airport and company security regulations and procedures.
- Perform routine security checks on cargo and report any suspicious activities immediately.
- Operate pallet jacks, forklifts, or other material handling equipment as required (training provided if necessary).
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operational flow and on-time departures.
- Identify and report any damaged or missing cargo.
- Participate in ongoing training for security updates and operational best practices.
Required Skills
- Ability to pass extensive background checks and obtain necessary airport security clearances.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
- Physical fitness to lift and move heavy items (up to 25kg) and stand for extended periods.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- High level of reliability and punctuality.
- Basic computer literacy for scanning and data entry.
- Understanding of the importance of security in an airport environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or airport operations environment.
- Valid forklift operator's license (training can be provided for suitable candidates).
- Experience with cargo handling equipment.
