Job Description

Are you ready to kickstart a rewarding career in transportation? XPO Logistics is seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team as an Apprentice Truck Driver – 1st Year Trainee. This is an entry-level opportunity designed for individuals with little to no prior truck driving experience. You will receive comprehensive training and support to obtain your Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and develop the skills necessary to become a successful professional truck driver. This role focuses on local routes, allowing you to be home daily and build a strong foundation for your career in a dynamic industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in all required classroom and behind-the-wheel training programs.
  • Learn and adhere to all federal, state, and company regulations related to commercial driving.
  • Operate commercial vehicles safely and efficiently under direct supervision.
  • Assist with loading and unloading freight as needed, following proper procedures.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate driving logs and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and team members.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and customer service.

Required Skills

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a valid non-commercial driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
  • Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Prior experience in a physically demanding role.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Familiarity with local geographical area.
