Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Behavioral Health Music Lead to join our team in Virginia Beach. This pivotal role will lead the development, implementation, and oversight of music therapy programs within our behavioral health services, focusing on clinical outcomes and patient-centered care. The successful candidate will have a strong clinical background in music therapy, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for integrating therapeutic music interventions to support mental health recovery and well-being. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and evaluate evidence-based music therapy programs for behavioral health patients across various settings.
- Provide clinical leadership and supervision to a team of music therapists and support staff.
- Conduct comprehensive music therapy assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and document patient progress.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and nurses, to integrate music therapy into holistic care plans.
- Educate staff and families on the benefits and applications of music therapy in behavioral health.
- Manage program resources, including instruments, equipment, and budget, ensuring high-quality and effective services.
- Stay current with best practices, research, and advancements in music therapy and behavioral health, integrating new knowledge into practice.
- Participate in program development, quality improvement initiatives, and data collection for outcomes measurement.
Required Skills
- Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) required
- Master's degree in Music Therapy or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in behavioral health music therapy
- Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience
- Strong understanding of psychiatric diagnoses and treatment modalities
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Proficiency in clinical documentation and electronic health records (EHR)
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate in Music Therapy or related field
- Additional certifications in specialized therapeutic modalities (e.g., trauma-informed care, DBT)
- Experience in program development and grant writing
- Prior experience working in an acute care or inpatient psychiatric setting
