Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Brewing Chemist with a strong focus on beverage science to join our innovative team in Huntsville, Alabama. This role is crucial for ensuring the quality, consistency, and innovation of our diverse range of beverage products. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting chemical analyses, developing new analytical methods, troubleshooting production issues, and contributing to new product development in a dynamic, fun, and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and non-routine chemical analyses on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished beverage products to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Develop, validate, and implement new analytical methods and instrumentation for beverage quality control and research.
  • Monitor and interpret analytical data, identifying trends, anomalies, and potential issues, and proposing corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with R&D, production, and quality assurance teams to troubleshoot process deviations and product quality concerns.
  • Support new product development initiatives through chemical characterization and stability testing.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
  • Contribute to a safe and organized laboratory environment, adhering to all safety protocols and quality management systems.
  • Document all experimental procedures, results, and findings accurately and comprehensively.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an analytical chemistry laboratory, preferably within the food, beverage, or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Proficiency in various analytical techniques (e.g., GC, HPLC, spectroscopy, titrations).
  • Strong understanding of chemical principles and their application in beverage science.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Chemistry, Food Science, or Brewing Science.
  • Direct experience with brewing chemistry, flavor chemistry, or sensory analysis.
  • Familiarity with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems).
  • Experience with statistical process control and data analysis software.
