Job Description

Summa Health is offering an incredible opportunity for aspiring Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs) with our ‘No Experience, Paid Training’ program. This is your chance to gain essential skills, receive your certification, and launch a fulfilling career at one of Akron’s leading healthcare providers. You’ll receive comprehensive, hands-on training from experienced professionals, preparing you for success in this vital role. Upon successful completion of the training and certification, you will transition directly into a full-time CNA position within our system. No prior healthcare experience is required – just a strong work ethic, a compassionate heart, and a commitment to learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively and successfully complete all components of the paid CNA training program.
- Learn and practice patient care techniques under supervision.
- Assist patients with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding.
- Help patients with mobility, transferring, and repositioning.
- Take and record vital signs, reporting any changes to nursing staff.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment.
- Communicate effectively and compassionately with patients, their families, and the healthcare team.
- Adhere to all Summa Health policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Document care provided accurately and in a timely manner.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong desire to work in healthcare and help others.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new situations.
- Compassionate and empathetic demeanor.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to stand, walk, lift, and bend for extended periods (training will include proper body mechanics).
- Successfully pass background checks and health screenings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous volunteer experience in a healthcare setting is a plus, but not required.
- Basic computer proficiency.
