Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable Chemical Plant Drum Mover to join our team in Louisville, Kentucky. In this heavy industrial role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of drums and other chemical containers within our plant facility. This position requires strong adherence to safety protocols, the ability to operate heavy equipment, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely load, unload, and move drums, barrels, and other chemical containers using manual and powered material handling equipment (e.g., drum dollies, pallet jacks, forklifts).
  • Inspect drums for leaks, damage, or proper labeling prior to movement.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and environmental regulations, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain accurate inventory records of moved materials, utilizing scanning systems or manual logs as required.
  • Prepare drums for shipment or storage, including wrapping, labeling, and staging.
  • Assist with general warehouse and plant housekeeping duties to ensure a clean and safe work area.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or incidents immediately to supervision.
  • Collaborate with production and logistics teams to ensure smooth material flow.
  • Perform routine pre-operation checks on equipment and minor maintenance tasks.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to safely operate material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, drum movers).
  • Strong understanding and commitment to industrial safety practices.
  • Physical stamina and strength to lift, push, and roll heavy drums (up to 55 gallons/approximately 400-600 lbs with assistance/equipment).
  • Excellent attention to detail for inventory accuracy and safety checks.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to follow instructions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Forklift certification or previous experience operating a forklift.
  • Prior experience in a chemical manufacturing plant.
  • Basic computer literacy for inventory management systems.
