Job Description
Pasco-Hernando State College is seeking an enthusiastic and highly skilled Choral Director to lead our acclaimed choral program. This full-time position requires a passionate educator and conductor who can inspire students to achieve musical excellence, foster a collaborative environment, and contribute to the cultural vibrancy of our college and community. The successful candidate will be responsible for directing all choral ensembles, developing curriculum, and actively participating in recruitment and departmental activities. Key Responsibilities
- Direct and rehearse all college choral ensembles, including concert choir, chamber singers, and vocal jazz groups.
- Develop and implement engaging choral curriculum and repertoire that challenges students and showcases diverse musical styles.
- Prepare ensembles for public performances, college events, and regional/state competitions.
- Recruit and retain talented vocal students through auditions, outreach, and mentorship.
- Collaborate with faculty in other performing arts disciplines on interdisciplinary projects.
- Manage the choral budget, including purchasing music, instruments, and equipment.
- Advise students on academic and career paths related to vocal music.
- Participate in departmental meetings, faculty committees, and college-wide initiatives.
Required Skills
- Master's degree in Choral Conducting, Music Education, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience directing collegiate or professional choral ensembles.
- Demonstrated excellence in conducting, rehearsal techniques, and vocal pedagogy.
- Strong knowledge of choral literature across various historical periods and genres.
- Proficiency in piano accompaniment and sight-reading.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate in Choral Conducting or Music Education.
- Experience with music technology and digital audio workstations.
- Proven track record in successful student recruitment and program growth.
- Experience in arranging or composing for choral ensembles.
- Active participation in professional music organizations.
