Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Clinical Pharmacy Assistant to join our professional pharmacy team at AdventHealth Wesley Chapel. In this vital support role, you will work closely with licensed pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of pharmaceutical care to our patients. Your contributions will directly impact patient outcomes by assisting with medication preparation, inventory management, and various administrative tasks, allowing pharmacists to focus on clinical responsibilities. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist pharmacists with the preparation and dispensing of medications, including sterile and non-sterile compounding, under direct supervision.
  • Manage and maintain pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and rotating pharmaceutical supplies.
  • Perform routine quality assurance checks, including expiration date monitoring and proper storage of medications.
  • Answer phones, direct calls, and provide excellent customer service to internal and external inquiries.
  • Accurately input prescription and patient information into the pharmacy computer system.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with all regulatory standards.
  • Process prescription refills and manage prior authorizations as needed.
  • Assist with the delivery of medications to various units within the hospital.
  • Participate in continuing education and training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Basic mathematical skills for dosage calculations and inventory management
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications and pharmacy software systems
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Understanding of medical and pharmaceutical terminology

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant or Technician in a hospital or retail setting
  • Experience with sterile compounding techniques
  • Knowledge of state and federal regulations pertaining to pharmacy practice
