Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Commercial Farm Manager to oversee all operational aspects of our large-scale agricultural operations in Moncton, New Brunswick. This pivotal role involves comprehensive management of crop production, staff supervision, budget management, and adherence to the highest agricultural standards. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor farm production plans, including crop rotation, planting schedules, and harvesting strategies.
- Supervise, train, and manage farm staff, ensuring efficient and safe work practices in compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Manage farm budgets, including the procurement of supplies, equipment, and services, and maintain accurate financial records.
- Monitor crop health, identify pests and diseases, and implement effective and sustainable treatment plans.
- Operate, maintain, and ensure the proper functioning of farm machinery and equipment.
- Ensure strict compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality assurance regulations.
- Maintain detailed records of farm activities, yields, expenditures, and other relevant data.
- Collaborate with sales, processing, and research teams to optimize crop delivery, quality, and new agricultural initiatives.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in large-scale commercial farming operations, preferably in potato or similar row crop production.
- Strong knowledge of crop production techniques, soil management, irrigation systems, and integrated pest management.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining modern farm machinery and equipment.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage diverse teams effectively.
- Ability to manage budgets, analyze data, and maintain accurate records.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and adaptability to changing agricultural conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field.
- Experience with precision agriculture technologies, including GPS systems, drones, and data analysis software.
- Knowledge of Canadian agricultural regulations, certification standards, and best practices.
- Previous experience in a role requiring international sponsorship or managing diverse international teams.
