Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Compounding Pharmacy Technician to join our specialty lab team in Garland, TX. This role is crucial for preparing customized medications in a sterile and non-sterile environment, ensuring precise measurements and adherence to strict quality protocols. The ideal candidate will have experience in compounding and a passion for contributing to patient wellness through specialized pharmaceutical preparations. You will work closely with pharmacists to deliver high-quality, patient-specific medications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare compounded sterile and non-sterile preparations accurately and efficiently according to established formulas and procedures.
  • Maintain strict adherence to USP <795>, USP <797>, and USP <800> guidelines and other regulatory standards.
  • Operate and maintain compounding equipment, ensuring proper calibration and cleanliness.
  • Perform quality control checks on compounded products and raw materials.
  • Accurately weigh, measure, and mix pharmaceutical ingredients.
  • Document all compounding activities meticulously, including ingredient tracking and batch records.
  • Assist with inventory management of compounding chemicals and supplies, including ordering and receiving.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment within the compounding lab.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists and other team members to optimize workflow and resolve compounding-related issues.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices and regulatory changes.

Required Skills

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification required.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a compounding pharmacy setting.
  • Proficiency in sterile and non-sterile compounding techniques.
  • Strong mathematical aptitude and attention to detail for precise measurements.
  • Familiarity with USP <795>, USP <797>, and USP <800> guidelines.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Proficiency with pharmacy software systems and basic computer applications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a science-related field.
  • Advanced training or certification in sterile compounding.
  • Experience with hazardous drug compounding.
