Job Description
Walsh Construction is seeking experienced and safety-conscious Dump Truck Drivers to join our dynamic team for various construction projects across the Schaumburg and greater Chicago metropolitan area. This is a full-time position offering weekly payouts and the opportunity to work on significant infrastructure and commercial developments. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of materials such as dirt, gravel, sand, asphalt, and other construction aggregates to and from job sites. Adherence to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and site-specific regulations is paramount. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate dump trucks of various sizes and capacities, including ten-wheelers, tri-axles, and tractor-trailer dump trucks.
- Transport construction materials such as dirt, sand, gravel, rock, asphalt, and debris to and from job sites.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles and equipment, reporting any defects or issues.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, daily reports, and other required documentation.
- Adhere to all local, state, and federal traffic laws and regulations, including DOT requirements.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, site supervisors, and other team members.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials to support project schedules.
- Assist with minor maintenance and cleaning of the vehicle as needed.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with an airbrake endorsement.
- Minimum 2 years of verifiable experience operating dump trucks.
- Clean driving record (MVR) with no major violations.
- Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and basic vehicle maintenance.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and safety protocols.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform duties such as climbing, bending, and reaching.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable and punctual.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification.
- Experience with various types of construction equipment.
- Familiarity with construction sites and material handling procedures.
