Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Endoscopy Nurse (RN) to join our specialized clinic in Land O’ Lakes, FL. This full-time position offers day shifts only, providing an excellent work-life balance while allowing you to specialize in gastroenterological procedures. The Endoscopy Nurse will be responsible for providing expert nursing care to patients undergoing endoscopic procedures, from pre-procedure assessment and education to intra-procedure assistance and post-procedure recovery. You will work closely with gastroenterologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standards of patient safety and care. Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive pre-procedure patient assessment, education, and preparation for various endoscopic procedures (e.g., EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP).
- Assist physicians during endoscopic procedures, including managing equipment, monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Monitor patients during recovery, providing post-procedure care, discharge teaching, and ensuring safe patient hand-off.
- Maintain sterile fields, ensure proper functioning and cleaning of endoscopy equipment, and adhere to infection control protocols.
- Document all aspects of patient care accurately and thoroughly in electronic health records.
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes and clinic efficiency.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education to maintain professional competency and enhance clinical practice.
Required Skills
- Current active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Florida.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an acute care or procedural setting.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and assessment skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Certified Gastroenterology Registered Nurse (CGRN) certification.
- Previous experience in an endoscopy unit or gastroenterology clinic.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, particularly Cerner.
