Job Description
Join FedEx Express as a Dispatch Specialist within our Corporate Logistics Team in Austin, TX. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for coordinating the efficient movement of packages and freight, optimizing routes, and ensuring timely deliveries. You will serve as the central communication point for drivers, customers, and internal departments, using advanced dispatch systems to manage operations. This role demands strong organizational skills, quick decision-making, and a commitment to upholding FedEx’s reputation for excellence in logistics.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and track shipments and deliveries in real-time.
- Communicate effectively with drivers regarding routes, schedules, and service issues.
- Coordinate with customer service and sales teams to resolve delivery discrepancies and special requests.
- Optimize dispatch routes for efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and timely service.
- Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, driver logs, and service reports.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies.
- Respond to emergency situations and make critical decisions under pressure.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in dispatch or logistics coordination (minimum 2 years).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong geographical knowledge of the Austin area and surrounding regions.
- Proficiency with dispatch software and GPS tracking systems.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Experience with FedEx operational procedures.
- Familiarity with DOT regulations.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
