Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Formulations Scientist to join our dynamic R&D team in The Woodlands, TX. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the development and optimization of pharmaceutical formulations, with a primary focus on tablet and liquid medicine dosage forms. This position involves hands-on laboratory work, experimental design, data analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to bring new therapeutic products from concept to market. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of pharmaceutical sciences, an innovative approach to problem-solving, and a passion for advancing patient care through superior formulation development.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute experiments for the development of new tablet and liquid pharmaceutical formulations.
- Optimize existing formulations to improve stability, bioavailability, and manufacturing efficiency.
- Conduct pre-formulation studies to characterize drug substances and excipients.
- Perform physical and chemical stability testing of formulations and analyze results.
- Utilize a variety of analytical techniques to characterize formulations (e.g., HPLC, dissolution, particle size analysis).
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
- Collaborate with analytical, process development, and manufacturing teams.
- Troubleshoot formulation challenges and propose effective solutions.
- Stay current with scientific literature, industry trends, and new technologies in pharmaceutical formulation.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations and quality standards (GMP).
Required Skills
- Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline with 0-2 years of relevant experience, OR Master's degree with 3+ years of experience, OR Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience.
- Proven experience in pharmaceutical formulation development, specifically with tablets and liquid dosage forms.
- Strong understanding of pre-formulation principles and drug substance characterization.
- Proficiency in various analytical techniques used in formulation characterization.
- Experience with statistical experimental design (DOE) and data analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with advanced drug delivery systems.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical product development (e.g., FDA, ICH guidelines).
- Knowledge of scale-up and technology transfer processes.
- Experience with specialized software for formulation design or data analysis.
- Prior experience in a GMP environment.
