Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and reliable High School Service Staff to support the daily operations and maintenance of our high school facilities. This crucial role ensures a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. You will be responsible for a range of duties, including general cleaning, light maintenance, setup for school events, and ensuring building security during your shifts. The position requires flexibility to work both morning and evening shifts, contributing to the smooth functioning of our school community throughout the day.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal across classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and common areas.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms and replenish supplies to maintain hygiene standards.
- Assist with minor maintenance tasks, such as changing light bulbs, tightening loose fixtures, and reporting larger repair needs to supervisors.
- Set up and break down furniture and equipment for various school events, meetings, and activities.
- Conduct security checks of designated areas, ensuring doors and windows are secured, and reporting any suspicious activity.
- Operate cleaning equipment safely and efficiently.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
- Respond promptly to requests from school administration and staff.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor while interacting with students, staff, and visitors.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.
- Reliability and punctuality for assigned morning and evening shifts.
- Basic understanding of cleaning techniques and equipment operation.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions effectively.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in custodial, maintenance, or service roles, particularly in an educational setting.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures in a school environment.
