Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our private clinic in Sioux Falls as an Infusion Nurse. In this role, you will be responsible for administering a variety of infusion therapies to patients in a comfortable and supportive environment. This position offers flexible day shifts, promoting a healthy work-life balance while allowing you to provide exceptional patient care. You will work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standards of safety and efficacy in all infusion procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer intravenous medications and fluids, including but not limited to antibiotics, biologics, chemotherapy, immunoglobulins, and hydration therapy, following physician orders.
  • Assess patient health status, including vital signs, medical history, and current symptoms, before, during, and after infusion therapy.
  • Insert and maintain peripheral intravenous lines and central venous access devices (e.g., PICCs, ports).
  • Monitor patients for adverse reactions and complications during infusions, taking appropriate action as needed.
  • Educate patients and their families about infusion therapy, potential side effects, and self-care at home.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all patient assessments, interventions, and medication administration in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols and sterile technique.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, physicians, and other healthcare team members to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Manage and troubleshoot infusion pumps and other related equipment.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with infusion best practices.

Required Skills

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of South Dakota
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an RN, with at least 1 year in an infusion or acute care setting
  • Proficiency in IV insertion, venipuncture, and central line access management
  • Strong assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Certification in Infusion Nursing (CRNI) or Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN)
  • Experience with various types of infusion pumps and medication delivery systems
  • Previous experience in a private clinic or outpatient setting
