Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and skilled Maintenance Operative to join our team in Bradford, focusing on a stable housing contract. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of maintenance, repair, and improvement tasks across our residential properties. This position requires a proactive individual with a strong commitment to quality workmanship and resident satisfaction. You will work independently and as part of a team, ensuring that all work is completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards, maintaining the integrity and comfort of our housing stock.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and repair tasks, including plumbing, joinery, plastering, and basic electrical work.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and carry out fault finding and remedial actions.
  • Complete routine inspections of properties to identify and address potential issues proactively.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and time spent on each job.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, colleagues, and external contractors.
  • Manage and maintain company tools and equipment.
  • Participate in an on-call rota for emergency repairs as required.
  • Order and manage stock of materials for various maintenance tasks.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in general building maintenance or a related trade.
  • Proficiency in multiple trade skills (e.g., plumbing, joinery, basic electrics, plastering).
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage own workload effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations pertinent to maintenance work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in a relevant trade.
  • Experience working within a housing association or similar residential property environment.
  • First Aid qualification.
  • Asbestos Awareness training.
