Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Music Content Moderator with a strong focus on streaming safety to join our remote team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for reviewing and moderating user-generated and uploaded music content across our platform to ensure compliance with Spotify’s community guidelines, content policies, and legal requirements. Your primary objective will be to identify and remove content that promotes hate speech, violence, harassment, copyright infringement, or other inappropriate material, thereby safeguarding our users and maintaining the integrity of our platform. This position requires a keen eye for detail, excellent judgment, and a commitment to upholding a high standard of content quality and safety in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and moderate incoming music content submissions, user reports, and platform trends for policy violations, including but not limited to hate speech, explicit content, misinformation, and copyright infringement.
- Apply Spotify's content policies and guidelines consistently and accurately to make timely decisions on content removal, warnings, or escalations.
- Utilize moderation tools and internal systems to process content, log decisions, and track moderation actions.
- Collaborate with trust & safety, legal, and product teams to refine content policies and improve moderation processes.
- Stay informed about emerging trends in online safety, music content, and platform abuse.
- Participate in regular training sessions to enhance knowledge of evolving policies and tools.
- Provide clear, concise, and constructive feedback for policy and tool improvements.
- Handle sensitive and potentially disturbing content with professionalism and resilience.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in content moderation, trust and safety, or a related field, preferably within the music, streaming, or social media industry.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills to identify nuances in content.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong understanding of online safety issues, community guidelines, and content policies.
- Ability to make quick, sound judgments in ambiguous situations.
- Proficiency with various content management and moderation tools.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
- High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Media Studies, Music Business, or a related field.
- Familiarity with various music genres and cultural contexts.
- Experience with machine learning tools or AI-assisted moderation platforms.
- Additional language proficiency (e.g., Spanish, French, German, Portuguese).
- A passion for music and a deep understanding of the digital music landscape.
