Job Description
We are seeking a talented and passionate Music Curriculum Developer to join our fully remote team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and enhancing engaging and high-quality music education content for our global platform. You will work with subject matter experts, instructional designers, and multimedia specialists to create compelling learning experiences that cater to a diverse audience, from beginners to advanced music enthusiasts. This position requires a strong background in music theory, performance, history, and pedagogy, coupled with an understanding of online learning best practices. The successful candidate will be a creative thinker with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to educational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop comprehensive music curriculum, including course outlines, learning objectives, assessments, and engaging activities.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to translate complex musical concepts into clear, concise, and accessible online content.
- Write and edit instructional materials, scripts for video lessons, and interactive exercises.
- Ensure all curriculum adheres to pedagogical best practices and aligns with Coursera's quality standards.
- Integrate multimedia elements (audio, video, interactive simulations) effectively into course design.
- Conduct thorough research on current trends in music education and instructional technology.
- Review and provide constructive feedback on existing music courses and materials.
- Work closely with production teams to bring curriculum to life on the Coursera platform.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and maintaining high standards of quality.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Musicology, Music Theory, Composition, or a related field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in curriculum development, instructional design, or teaching music at a higher education level.
- Deep knowledge of music theory, history, and various musical genres.
- Demonstrated ability to write clear, engaging, and pedagogically sound instructional content.
- Proficiency with online learning platforms and content creation tools.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote, collaborative team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Music Education or a related discipline.
- Experience with adult learning principles and instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM).
- Familiarity with music notation software (e.g., Sibelius, Finale) and digital audio workstations (DAWs).
- Experience developing curriculum for a global, diverse audience.
- Background in performance or composition.
- Experience with video scriptwriting and storyboarding.
