Job Description
Are you passionate about music and eager to make a positive impact in healthcare? UK HealthCare is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Music Therapy Assistants. No prior experience in music therapy is required, as comprehensive training will be provided to all successful candidates. This entry-level position offers a unique opportunity to learn the fundamentals of music therapy and contribute to patient care under the guidance of certified professionals. You will play a vital role in creating a supportive and engaging environment for patients across various departments, helping to improve their quality of life through the power of music.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist certified music therapists in planning and implementing music therapy sessions for individuals and groups.
- Prepare therapy spaces, ensuring all necessary instruments and materials are ready for sessions.
- Help facilitate patient participation and engagement during music therapy activities.
- Document patient attendance and general observations during sessions.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of music therapy equipment and spaces.
- Learn and apply foundational music therapy techniques and interventions as guided by a certified therapist.
- Provide compassionate support and interaction with patients and their families.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and patient confidentiality guidelines.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Genuine passion for music and its therapeutic potential
- Basic musical aptitude (e.g., ability to keep a beat, sing in tune, or play a simple instrument)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong sense of empathy, patience, and compassion
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Eagerness to learn and develop new skills in a healthcare setting
Preferred Qualifications
- Some experience with musical instruments (e.g., guitar, keyboard, percussion) or singing
- Volunteer or paid experience in a healthcare, educational, or community service setting
- Basic understanding of medical terminology or patient care principles
- Interest in psychology, human development, or related fields
