Job Description

Are you a meticulous data professional with a passion for content and an expert understanding of metadata schemas? Amazon’s Prime Video team is seeking an experienced Metadata Pro to elevate the discoverability and integrity of our vast content library. In this role, you will be crucial in ensuring that all content metadata is accurate, complete, and optimized for search, recommendation algorithms, and user experience. This position requires a sharp eye for detail, deep analytical skills, and a proactive approach to data quality within a fast-paced media environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain high-quality metadata for a diverse catalog of movies, TV shows, and original content, ensuring accuracy and consistency across platforms.
  • Develop and implement metadata standards, guidelines, and best practices to improve content discoverability and user engagement.
  • Perform extensive data analysis to identify trends, inconsistencies, and opportunities for metadata enrichment and optimization.
  • Collaborate with content acquisition, product, engineering, and editorial teams to streamline metadata ingestion and publishing workflows.
  • Conduct regular audits of metadata, identifying and correcting errors, and ensuring compliance with established schemas and industry standards.
  • Contribute to the evolution of metadata tools and systems by providing expert feedback and requirements.
  • Train and support junior analysts on metadata best practices and platform-specific guidelines.
  • Stay current with industry trends in metadata management, content classification, and digital media.
  • Provide advanced support for complex metadata-related issues and escalations.

Required Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in metadata management, content operations, or data analysis within the media or entertainment industry.
  • Profound understanding of various metadata schemas (e.g., EIDR, MAID, ONIX, XML, JSON) and their application.
  • Demonstrated expertise with Content Management Systems (CMS) and Digital Asset Management (DAM) platforms.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with SQL and other data manipulation tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex data concepts clearly.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, cross-functional team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Information Systems, Media Studies, or a related field.
  • Experience with machine learning principles or AI-driven metadata enrichment tools.
  • Familiarity with A/B testing and user experience (UX) principles as they relate to content discovery.
  • Project management experience in a data-intensive environment.
  • Understanding of international content markets and localization challenges in metadata.
