Job Description

Are you handy with tools and looking for a summer gig? The Home Depot in North York is seeking enthusiastic and detail-oriented individuals to join our team as Patio Dining Set Builders for the upcoming summer season. This is a temporary position perfect for those who enjoy working with their hands, ensuring high-quality assembly, and contributing to our customers’ outdoor living enjoyment. You will be responsible for assembling various patio furniture items, primarily dining sets, for display and customer orders, ensuring they meet safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Efficiently and accurately assemble a variety of patio dining sets and other outdoor furniture according to manufacturer instructions and diagrams.
  • Inspect all components for defects or missing parts before and during assembly, reporting any issues to a supervisor.
  • Ensure all assembled furniture is sturdy, level, and meets quality control standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Assist with moving and staging assembled furniture on the sales floor or in designated areas.
  • Properly dispose of packaging materials and waste.
  • Provide basic tool maintenance and care for company-provided assembly tools.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency with common hand and power tools (drills, wrenches, screwdrivers).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex assembly instructions accurately.
  • Physical stamina to stand, bend, lift (up to 50 lbs), and move furniture for extended periods.
  • Reliability and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced retail environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in furniture assembly, carpentry, or a similar hands-on role.
  • Familiarity with various types of patio furniture construction.
  • Basic understanding of safety procedures in a workshop or retail setting.
  • A positive attitude and a commitment to customer satisfaction.
