Job Description

Join our dedicated team at Montefiore Health System as a Physical Therapy Aide. In this vital support role, you will assist our licensed physical therapists and physical therapy assistants in delivering high-quality patient care. Your responsibilities will include maintaining a clean and safe therapy environment, preparing treatment areas, and directly assisting patients with therapeutic exercises and mobility. Key Responsibilities

  • Clean and sanitize physical therapy equipment and treatment areas after each use to maintain a sterile environment.
  • Prepare treatment rooms and equipment for patient use according to therapist instructions.
  • Assist patients with safe transfers, ambulation, and positioning as directed by the physical therapist.
  • Support patients during therapeutic exercises and activities, ensuring proper form and safety.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and report needs to ensure adequate stock.
  • Transport patients to and from the physical therapy department.
  • Perform administrative duties such as scheduling, answering phones, and maintaining patient records as needed.
  • Observe patients during treatment and report any changes in condition or concerns to the physical therapist.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively within a team.
  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, lift, and assist patients.
  • Commitment to patient privacy and confidentiality (HIPAA).
  • Basic computer proficiency for scheduling and record-keeping.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a healthcare setting, ideally in physical therapy or patient care.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Coursework in health sciences or a related field.
