Job Description
Join our dedicated team at Montefiore Health System as a Physical Therapy Aide. In this vital support role, you will assist our licensed physical therapists and physical therapy assistants in delivering high-quality patient care. Your responsibilities will include maintaining a clean and safe therapy environment, preparing treatment areas, and directly assisting patients with therapeutic exercises and mobility. Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize physical therapy equipment and treatment areas after each use to maintain a sterile environment.
- Prepare treatment rooms and equipment for patient use according to therapist instructions.
- Assist patients with safe transfers, ambulation, and positioning as directed by the physical therapist.
- Support patients during therapeutic exercises and activities, ensuring proper form and safety.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and report needs to ensure adequate stock.
- Transport patients to and from the physical therapy department.
- Perform administrative duties such as scheduling, answering phones, and maintaining patient records as needed.
- Observe patients during treatment and report any changes in condition or concerns to the physical therapist.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively within a team.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, lift, and assist patients.
- Commitment to patient privacy and confidentiality (HIPAA).
- Basic computer proficiency for scheduling and record-keeping.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting, ideally in physical therapy or patient care.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Coursework in health sciences or a related field.
