Job Description

We are seeking a diligent and experienced Professional Field Auditor to join our Asset Protection team. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with company policies, operational procedures, and regulatory standards across various Target locations. The Field Auditor will conduct comprehensive audits, identify potential risks, assess internal controls, and provide recommendations to enhance efficiency and minimize loss. This position requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to travel extensively within a designated region. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled audits of retail stores and distribution centers to assess compliance with company policies, operational procedures, and asset protection protocols.
  • Evaluate internal controls, identify weaknesses, and recommend improvements to mitigate risks and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Perform financial, operational, and compliance audits, including inventory reconciliation, cash handling procedures, and vendor compliance.
  • Prepare detailed audit reports outlining findings, recommendations, and action plans for corrective measures.
  • Collaborate with store leadership and regional management to present audit findings and facilitate the implementation of corrective actions.
  • Investigate discrepancies, potential fraud, and policy violations as needed.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices, regulatory changes, and company policy updates relevant to auditing and loss prevention.
  • Provide training and guidance to store teams on best practices for compliance and control.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in internal audit, external audit, loss prevention, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of audit methodologies, risk assessment, and internal control frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • High level of integrity, objectivity, and professional skepticism.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively (up to 75%) within a designated geographic area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
  • Experience with retail operations and inventory management systems.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards specific to the retail industry.
