Job Description

The Minnesota Orchestra is seeking highly accomplished and dedicated Professional Symphony Musicians to join our distinguished ensemble. This is a full-time, on-site position for an individual who demonstrates exceptional instrumental proficiency, artistic sensitivity, and a strong commitment to collaborative performance. As a member of our orchestra, you will play a crucial role in bringing classical and contemporary masterpieces to life, engaging with our diverse audiences, and upholding the highest standards of musical artistry. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform in all scheduled rehearsals, concerts, and recording sessions with the highest level of musicianship and artistic integrity.
  • Maintain and enhance personal instrumental proficiency through regular practice and continuous musical development.
  • Collaborate effectively and professionally with conductors, guest artists, and fellow musicians.
  • Actively participate in educational and community engagement programs as required, representing the orchestra with professionalism.
  • Adhere to the orchestra's demanding performance schedule, including evenings, weekends, and potential touring.
  • Contribute positively to a respectful, supportive, and collaborative ensemble environment.

Required Skills

  • Mastery of your chosen orchestral instrument, demonstrating exceptional technique, tone, and musicality.
  • Extensive knowledge and command of a broad range of orchestral repertoire.
  • Superior sight-reading abilities and a quick capacity for learning new music.
  • Proven ability to perform as an integral part of a large ensemble, with strong intonation, rhythm, and blend.
  • A profound commitment to artistic excellence and continuous professional development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills suitable for a collaborative artistic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Music Performance or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 5 years of professional performing experience in a symphony orchestra of comparable standing.
  • Experience with contemporary music and diverse performance styles.
  • A demonstrated track record of successful collaborative performance and a passion for community outreach.
