Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Public Health Nurse to join our team in New Port Richey, FL. This vital role involves promoting health and preventing disease within the community through education, direct care, and collaboration with various health programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to public health principles and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations. This position offers a stable Monday to Friday schedule, providing an excellent work-life balance within a supportive government agency environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care, health screenings, and immunizations to individuals and families in various community settings.
  • Conduct health assessments, develop care plans, and provide case management for clients with diverse health needs.
  • Educate individuals and groups on health promotion, disease prevention, and management of chronic conditions.
  • Investigate communicable diseases, conduct contact tracing, and implement control measures to prevent outbreaks.
  • Participate in public health emergency preparedness and response activities.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with agency policies and regulations.
  • Collaborate with community partners, healthcare providers, and social service agencies to address public health issues.
  • Administer specialized clinics (e.g., maternal and child health, STD, TB) as assigned.
  • Contribute to program planning, evaluation, and quality improvement initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Current Florida RN license in good standing
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience
  • Strong assessment, planning, and intervention skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Proficiency in electronic health record systems
  • Knowledge of public health principles and practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Experience in public health, community health, or home health settings
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish)
  • Certification in Public Health (CPH)
