Job Description
Are you eager to start a career in retail and learn the essentials of customer service and sales transactions? Target in Arvada, CO is seeking enthusiastic individuals for our Retail Cashier Trainee program. This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity where you will receive 100% comprehensive, on-the-job training on all aspects of operating our registers, handling transactions, and providing exceptional guest service. No prior experience is required—just a positive attitude and a willingness to learn!
Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively in a structured training program to learn point-of-sale (POS) systems, cash handling, and payment processing procedures.
- Greet guests warmly and provide friendly, efficient, and accurate service at checkout.
- Scan merchandise, process various forms of payment (cash, credit/debit cards, gift cards), and issue receipts.
- Accurately manage cash drawer contents and complete end-of-shift reconciliation.
- Assist guests with inquiries, locate products, and process returns or exchanges as trained.
- Maintain a clean and organized checkout area, ensuring a positive shopping experience.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to safety and security.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth store operations and guest satisfaction.
Required Skills
- Strong willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Basic math skills for accurate cash handling.
- Reliable and punctual with a positive, guest-focused attitude.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Previous experience in a customer service role (non-retail experience is acceptable).
- Availability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
