Job Description
Join Target’s team as a Secret Shopping Intern for a paid summer placement! This unique internship offers students an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in market research, customer experience evaluation, and retail operations. You will be instrumental in helping us understand and enhance the guest experience by covertly assessing store conditions, product availability, customer service, and overall store environment. This role is perfect for detail-oriented individuals passionate about consumer behavior and retail excellence, looking for a dynamic summer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct unannounced visits to designated Target stores to evaluate various aspects of the shopping experience.
- Observe and document store cleanliness, product presentation, stock levels, and promotional displays.
- Interact with store team members to assess customer service quality, product knowledge, and helpfulness.
- Complete detailed evaluation reports and questionnaires accurately and promptly after each visit.
- Provide constructive feedback and insights based on observations to help improve operational standards.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all secret shopping assignments and findings.
- Adhere to all guidelines and protocols for secret shopping to ensure data integrity and objectivity.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program (all majors considered, business, marketing, communications preferred).
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work independently.
- High level of integrity and discretion.
- Access to reliable transportation for store visits.
- Proficiency with basic office software (e.g., Google Docs, Microsoft Word).
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in retail or customer service roles.
- Familiarity with market research principles or data collection.
- Availability for the entire summer placement period (e.g., June-August).
