Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Healthcare Assistant to join our dedicated team at Providence St. Peter Hospital in West Olympia. This is an exceptional opportunity for a compassionate and skilled individual to provide essential support to patients and nursing staff, contributing significantly to the quality of patient care. The role involves direct patient interaction, assisting with daily living activities, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring a safe and comfortable environment. Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
- Monitor and record vital signs, intake and output, and report any significant changes to the nursing staff promptly.
- Document patient observations, care provided, and responses to interventions accurately and in a timely manner.
- Support patient nutritional needs, including assisting with feeding and ensuring dietary compliance.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe patient environment.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients, fostering a comforting atmosphere.
- Collaborate effectively with registered nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Assist with patient transfers and ambulation using appropriate safety techniques and equipment.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, including infection control protocols.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Healthcare Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
- Current CNA certification or equivalent licensure relevant to Washington State.
- Proven ability to provide compassionate and patient-centered care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Proficiency in basic medical terminology and patient care procedures.
- Excellent observational and reporting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an acute care hospital setting.
- Advanced CPR and First Aid certification.
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Multilingual abilities, especially in languages common in the local community.
- Demonstrated leadership potential or experience mentoring junior staff.
