Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Stable Hand to join our passionate team at Waterstock House Training Centre. This role is perfect for someone with a genuine love for horses and a strong work ethic, who doesn’t mind early starts. You will be instrumental in the daily care and well-being of our horses, contributing to a happy and healthy yard environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Mucking out stables and maintaining a clean yard.
- Feeding, watering, and haying horses according to their individual dietary plans.
- Turning out and bringing in horses safely.
- Grooming horses and preparing them for exercise or turnout.
- Assisting with the administration of medication under supervision.
- Maintaining tack and equipment in good condition.
- Monitoring horse health and reporting any concerns to the Head Groom.
- Assisting with general yard duties and maintenance as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience working with horses (minimum 1 year).
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in all weather conditions.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to early morning starts.
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to animal welfare.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant equestrian qualifications (e.g., BHS Stage 1 or equivalent).
- Experience with a variety of horse breeds and temperaments.
- Basic first aid knowledge for horses.
- Ability to drive a horsebox (not essential but a plus).
