Job Description
Are you passionate about music and working with children? The YMCA of Greater Long Beach is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Summer Music Camp Counselors for our upcoming seasonal camp in Belmont Shore. This role is perfect for individuals looking to make a meaningful impact during the summer, guiding campers through musical activities, fostering a fun and safe environment, and helping them discover their potential. Housing is provided for the duration of the camp season, offering a unique live-in experience within our vibrant community. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and engage a group of campers (ages 6-15) in various music-related activities, including singing, instrument exploration, rhythm games, and creative movement.
- Assist music instructors with lesson preparation and execution, ensuring campers are actively participating and learning.
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and safe camp environment, adhering to all YMCA policies and procedures.
- Organize and lead recreational activities, team-building exercises, and free play during non-music instruction times.
- Act as a positive role model, demonstrating enthusiasm, patience, and strong communication skills.
- Handle minor conflicts and behavioral issues with guidance from camp leadership.
- Ensure the health and safety of all campers, including adherence to emergency procedures.
- Participate in daily staff meetings, training sessions, and end-of-season evaluations.
- Reside on-site in provided housing for the duration of the camp season, participating in evening and weekend camp activities as needed.
