Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable Trailer Loader to join our afternoon shift team in Warwick, Rhode Island. This role is crucial for the efficient movement of goods within our distribution center, involving the loading and unloading of trailers with various packages. You will work in a fast-paced environment, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety protocols. This is a full-time position with consistent afternoon hours and the benefit of no weekend work, allowing for a predictable and stable schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently load and unload packages from trailers, utilizing appropriate equipment (e.g., hand trucks, pallet jacks) as needed.
- Sort and stage packages according to destination or other specified criteria.
- Operate scanning equipment to track package movement and ensure inventory accuracy.
- Adhere strictly to all safety procedures and company policies, including proper lifting techniques and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area within the loading dock and trailer bay.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding operational flow and potential issues.
- Inspect trailers for damage or safety concerns before loading/unloading.
- Assist with other general warehouse duties as required.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy packages (up to 70 lbs) consistently throughout the shift.
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial reasoning.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to all safety protocols.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or similar physically demanding role.
- Experience operating pallet jacks or other material handling equipment.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
