Job Description

Join Active Tree Services as a Tree Ground Crew Assistant in Geelong! This outdoor physical role is perfect for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, are physically fit, and are eager to learn the fundamentals of arboriculture. You will support our skilled arborists and tree climbers in various tree maintenance and removal tasks, ensuring safety and efficiency on every job site. No prior experience in tree work is required; we provide comprehensive on-the-job training for motivated individuals. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist arborists and tree climbers with ground-based tasks during tree removal and pruning operations.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of tools and equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, and other machinery (after training).
  • Clear debris, branches, and other vegetation from work areas, maintaining a clean and safe site.
  • Load and unload equipment and materials from company vehicles.
  • Implement and adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
  • Perform general site clean-up and maintenance duties.
  • Support traffic management as required to ensure public safety around work zones.

Required Skills

  • Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to all safety procedures.
  • Valid Australian Driver's License (manual preferred).
  • Punctual and reliable.

Preferred Qualifications

  • White Card (General Construction Induction Card).
  • First Aid certification.
  • Chainsaw operation experience (cross-cutting, maintenance).
  • Experience operating chippers or other heavy machinery.
  • Previous experience in a similar outdoor labor role.
