Job Description
As a Truck Rental Counter Agent, you will be the front-line ambassador for U-Haul, providing outstanding customer service to individuals and families during their moving and storage journey. This crucial role involves assisting customers with truck, trailer, and storage rentals, processing paperwork, conducting equipment inspections, and ensuring a smooth and efficient rental experience. You will be responsible for maintaining a clean and welcoming environment, answering inquiries, and troubleshooting minor issues, all while upholding U-Haul’s commitment to excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assist them with truck, trailer, and storage rentals.
- Accurately process rental agreements, payments, and other necessary paperwork.
- Conduct thorough inspections of rental equipment before and after each rental.
- Educate customers on equipment operation, safety guidelines, and rental terms.
- Manage inventory and ensure rental equipment is clean, maintained, and ready for use.
- Handle customer inquiries, resolve complaints, and provide solutions in a professional manner.
- Perform light maintenance duties, such as cleaning vehicles and checking fluid levels.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
- Assist with retail sales of moving supplies and merchandise.
- Work collaboratively with team members to achieve branch goals and customer satisfaction.
Required Skills
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Basic computer proficiency for processing transactions and managing reservations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling paperwork and transactions.
- Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to customer needs.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical duties such as climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service, retail, or rental environment.
- Familiarity with truck or automotive equipment.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Basic sales experience with an ability to recommend products and services.
