Job Description
We are seeking an experienced UPS Metadata Pro to join our dynamic team in Centennial, Colorado. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the comprehensive management, governance, and optimization of metadata related to our extensive logistics and package delivery operations. Your expertise will ensure data integrity, improve searchability, enhance operational efficiency, and support advanced analytics across Amazon’s supply chain systems. This position demands a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of data architecture, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to define and enforce metadata standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain metadata models, taxonomies, and ontologies for logistics and package data.
- Develop and enforce metadata governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance.
- Perform metadata analysis, profiling, and quality checks to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Collaborate with data architects, engineers, and business stakeholders to integrate metadata solutions across various platforms and systems.
- Provide expert guidance on metadata best practices, tools, and technologies to internal teams.
- Manage the lifecycle of metadata assets, including creation, modification, versioning, and retirement.
- Support advanced analytics and reporting initiatives by ensuring accurate and accessible metadata.
- Train and mentor junior staff on metadata management principles and tools.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in metadata management, data governance, or data architecture, specifically within logistics, supply chain, or e-commerce.
- Proficiency with metadata management tools and platforms (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation).
- Strong understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL processes.
- Expertise in developing and implementing data taxonomies, ontologies, and controlled vocabularies.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, complex, and evolving environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms (AWS preferred).
- Familiarity with industry standards for logistics data (e.g., GS1).
- Proven track record of driving significant improvements in data quality and accessibility.
- Certifications in data governance or metadata management.
