Job Description
Join XPO Logistics as a Class A Day Cab Driver, operating local routes in and around the Springfield, Massachusetts area. This is a full-time position offering consistent work, allowing you to be home every day. You will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of various freight types to and from distribution centers, warehouses, and customer locations. We seek dedicated professionals committed to upholding high standards of safety, compliance, and customer service. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class A day cab tractor-trailer on local routes.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment.
- Transport freight efficiently and on schedule to designated locations.
- Adhere to all federal, state, and local traffic laws and company safety policies.
- Maintain accurate electronic logs (ELD) and complete all necessary paperwork.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members.
- Assist with loading and unloading freight as required (Pallet jack, forklift, or by hand depending on freight).
- Ensure the securement of cargo to prevent damage during transit.
- Represent XPO Logistics professionally at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) verifiable Class A driving experience
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) with no serious violations
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen
- Proficiency in operating Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs)
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 75 pounds
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Experience with various types of freight and equipment (e.g., dry van, reefer)
- Knowledge of the local Springfield, MA, and surrounding area road networks
- Hazmat endorsement is a plus, but not required for this specific role
