Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Junior Google Designer with a strong focus on User Interface (UI) design to join our dynamic product team in Center City, Philadelphia. This entry-level role is perfect for someone eager to grow their skills, learn from experienced designers, and contribute to impactful projects within Google’s ecosystem. You will play a key role in developing intuitive and visually appealing interfaces for various Google products, ensuring consistency with Google Material Design principles and a seamless user experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with senior designers, product managers, and engineers to translate product requirements into user-friendly UI designs.
- Develop wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites/applications function and look.
- Participate in user research and usability testing to gather feedback and iterate on designs.
- Ensure all designs adhere to Google's Material Design guidelines and brand standards.
- Present design concepts and rationale to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Maintain a strong understanding of current design trends, tools, and best practices.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and workflows.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in UI design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
- Basic understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.
- Strong visual design skills with attention to detail in typography, color, and layout.
- Ability to create wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- A portfolio demonstrating UI design projects (can include academic or personal work).
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Interaction Design, Graphic Design, HCI, or a related field.
- Familiarity with Google Material Design guidelines and components.
- Basic understanding of front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
- Experience with design systems.
- Prior internship or project experience in a product design role.
