Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and physically capable Vinyl Floor Cutter to join our flooring installation support team. In this role, you will work closely with professional floor layers, preparing materials by accurately cutting vinyl flooring to specification. Your precision and efficiency will directly contribute to the success of our installation projects, ensuring our customers receive high-quality service and results. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to enter the flooring trade or enhance their existing skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately measure and cut various types of vinyl flooring materials according to project specifications and professional floor layer instructions.
  • Operate cutting tools and equipment safely and effectively, including utility knives, straight edges, and specialized vinyl cutters.
  • Organize and maintain flooring materials in the work area, ensuring proper storage and easy access.
  • Assist professional floor layers with material handling, debris removal, and other support tasks as needed on job sites or in the warehouse.
  • Inspect materials for quality and report any defects or discrepancies.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic mathematical skills for accurate measurements and calculations.
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in cutting and handling materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret measurements and simple diagrams.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs), stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
  • Reliable and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a construction, manufacturing, or flooring-related role.
  • Familiarity with various types of flooring materials and installation techniques.
  • Experience operating hand and power tools.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
