Job Description
Are you a dedicated Registered Nurse with a passion for providing exceptional patient care during the night? The University of Vermont Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Night Owl RN to join our team on a unique 7 On, 7 Off schedule. This full-time position offers premium pay for those committed to our nocturnal shifts, allowing for a consistent work-life balance with extended periods off. You will be instrumental in monitoring patients, administering medications, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all. Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, adhering to established policies and procedures.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, accurately documenting all actions.
- Monitor and interpret patient vital signs, symptoms, and medical histories, reporting changes to the medical team promptly.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care plans.
- Educate patients and their families on health conditions, medications, and self-care techniques.
- Maintain accurate and detailed electronic health records, ensuring patient confidentiality.
- Respond to medical emergencies and initiate appropriate interventions.
- Supervise and delegate tasks to support staff as appropriate.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education programs.
Required Skills
- Current unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in Vermont.
- Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Experience in a specialty area such as ICU, ER, or Med/Surg.
- Certification in a relevant nursing specialty.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development.
