Job Description
Are you a high school student with a genuine love for animals and looking for an exciting entry into the pet care industry? Petco in Grand Prairie, TX is seeking a enthusiastic and dedicated High School Pet Groomer Assistant to join our professional grooming salon. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience, learn from experienced groomers, and contribute to the happiness and well-being of pets in our community. You’ll assist our groomers with various tasks, maintain a clean and safe environment, and interact with adorable pets and their loving owners.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist professional pet groomers with bathing, drying, and brushing pets.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe grooming salon environment, including sanitizing tools and work areas.
- Provide basic care and comfort to pets, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the grooming process.
- Handle pets with patience, gentleness, and kindness, following proper animal handling techniques.
- Greet pet parents warmly, assist with check-ins and check-outs, and provide excellent customer service.
- Restock supplies and assist with laundry and other general salon duties as needed.
Required Skills
- Must be currently enrolled in high school or equivalent.
- Genuine passion for animals and their well-being.
- Ability to follow instructions and learn new tasks quickly.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable working with various breeds and temperaments of dogs and cats.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience volunteering or working with animals (e.g., shelter, personal pets).
- Basic understanding of pet behavior and safety.
- Customer service experience in any setting.
