Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Specialized Glass Hauler to join our team in New Port Richey, FL. This critical role involves the precise and secure transportation of large, fragile glass panels and products to various commercial and industrial sites. You will be responsible for ensuring the safe loading, securing, and delivery of high-value materials, adhering to stringent safety protocols and delivery schedules. This position demands exceptional attention to detail, a commitment to safety, and expertise in handling specialized loads. Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport specialized glass panels and products using appropriate equipment.
- Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, documenting any defects.
- Secure loads using straps, chains, and other securing devices in compliance with DOT regulations and company standards for fragile materials.
- Operate commercial vehicles in a safe, courteous, and efficient manner, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate electronic logs (ELD) and complete all required paperwork, including delivery manifests and inspection reports.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse personnel, and clients regarding delivery status and potential issues.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including those specific to glass handling.
- Assist with loading and unloading activities as needed, ensuring glass integrity is maintained.
- Perform routine maintenance checks and minor repairs on equipment as appropriate.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Minimum of 2-3 years of verifiable experience hauling oversized, specialized, or fragile loads.
- Proven clean driving record (no major violations, accidents, or DUI/DWI).
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and pre-employment drug screen.
- Strong understanding and adherence to DOT regulations and safety protocols.
- Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 pounds and perform physical tasks associated with loading and securing freight.
- Proficient in using ELD systems and other dispatch technologies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience specifically hauling glass products or similar fragile materials.
- Certification in specialized load securement techniques.
- Familiarity with local and regional delivery routes in Florida.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
