Job Description
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Pinterest Metadata Analyst with a strong focus on Machine Learning to join our innovative team in Wichita, Kansas. In this hybrid role, you will be instrumental in enhancing the quality and discoverability of content on the Pinterest platform by analyzing and optimizing metadata. Your expertise will directly contribute to improving the performance of our machine learning models, ensuring richer, more accurate data drives a superior user experience. You will work closely with data scientists, engineers, and product managers to identify metadata gaps, develop robust metadata strategies, and implement scalable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze large datasets of Pinterest metadata to identify patterns, inconsistencies, and areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement strategies for metadata quality improvement, including schema design, data labeling, and taxonomy refinement.
- Collaborate with machine learning engineers to understand model requirements and provide high-quality, relevant metadata for training and validation.
- Monitor the performance of machine learning models influenced by metadata and suggest adjustments for optimization.
- Design and execute A/B tests to evaluate the impact of metadata changes on content discoverability and user engagement.
- Document metadata guidelines, best practices, and processes for internal teams.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends in metadata management, machine learning, and visual search technologies.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and analysis.
- Strong understanding of data structures, metadata concepts, and information retrieval.
- Familiarity with machine learning fundamentals, including model training, evaluation, and feature engineering.
- Experience with data analysis tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, R).
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to translate complex data insights into actionable recommendations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field.
- Experience with metadata management systems or content management platforms.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
- Prior experience working with visual content platforms or e-commerce metadata.
- Knowledge of Pinterest's platform and data ecosystem.
