Job Description
Are you a responsible 13-year-old looking for a fun and easy way to earn money this summer? Phelan Gardens is excited to offer a local plant sitter position designed specifically for teens who love plants and want to make a positive impact in their neighborhood. This temporary summer role involves caring for plants at various residential locations, ensuring they remain healthy and vibrant while their owners are away. It’s a great opportunity to learn about plant care, manage your time, and enjoy the outdoors, all while earning easy pay.
Key Responsibilities
- Visit designated homes within Colorado Springs to water indoor and outdoor plants according to specific instructions.
- Monitor plant health for any signs of distress or pests and report concerns to a supervisor.
- Ensure plants receive appropriate light conditions (e.g., moving potted plants if required).
- Maintain cleanliness around plant areas, removing any fallen leaves or debris.
- Communicate professionally and courteously with homeowners and Phelan Gardens staff.
- Keep accurate records of visits and plant care activities.
- Adhere to scheduled visiting times and complete tasks efficiently.
Required Skills

- Ability to follow instructions carefully.
- Good communication skills.
- Access to reliable transportation (e.g., bicycle, parent drop-off) to various local homes.
- Must be 13 years of age at the start of employment.
