Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Garden Fence Stainer with a strong focus on wood protection to join our remote team. This unique Work From Home role involves providing expert guidance on fence staining projects, specializing in products and techniques that ensure long-lasting wood protection. You will be responsible for consulting with clients virtually, recommending appropriate Sherwin-Williams products, estimating material needs, and advising on best practices for application and maintenance. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage projects remotely to achieve outstanding results in wood preservation.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct virtual consultations with clients to understand their fence staining and wood protection needs.
- Recommend appropriate Sherwin-Williams stains, sealants, and wood protection products based on wood type, exposure, and desired aesthetic.
- Calculate and estimate material quantities accurately for various project sizes.
- Provide detailed instructions and best practice advice for stain application, surface preparation, and ongoing wood maintenance.
- Offer expert insights into preventing wood rot, insect damage, and UV degradation through proper staining and sealing.
- Manage project timelines and client expectations, ensuring a smooth and satisfactory experience from consultation to project completion.
- Stay informed about new products, techniques, and industry trends in wood protection and outdoor finishes.
- Maintain detailed records of client interactions, recommendations, and project specifications.
- Collaborate with local Sherwin-Williams stores or contractors as needed for material sourcing or on-site support.
- Address client inquiries and resolve issues related to wood staining and protection effectively and professionally.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in wood staining and finishing, with a strong emphasis on wood protection.
- In-depth knowledge of various wood types, their characteristics, and specific protection requirements.
- Familiarity with different stain types (oil-based, water-based, semi-transparent, solid) and their application.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for virtual client interactions.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities, capable of working independently.
- Proficiency with virtual communication tools and basic office software.
- Ability to accurately estimate material costs and quantities.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality results.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification or specialized training in wood finishing or preservation.
- Previous experience in a remote or work-from-home customer-facing role.
- Experience with Sherwin-Williams product lines for exterior wood protection.
- Background in landscaping, carpentry, or home improvement.
