Job Description

Join Google as an Entry-Level Network Monitor, focusing on night shifts, and be a critical part of our global network operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about technology, eager to learn, and ready to contribute to maintaining the stability and performance of one of the world’s largest networks. You will be responsible for continuous monitoring, initial troubleshooting, and escalation of network incidents during critical off-peak hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform 24/7 proactive monitoring of Google's network infrastructure and services, specifically during night shifts.
  • Identify, analyze, and diagnose network alarms, alerts, and events using various monitoring tools.
  • Execute initial troubleshooting steps based on established runbooks and protocols.
  • Accurately document all incidents, actions taken, and resolutions in the ticketing system.
  • Escalate critical incidents to senior engineers or relevant teams following defined procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams to provide status updates and facilitate incident resolution.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating operational documentation and procedures.
  • Participate in training and development programs to enhance network monitoring and troubleshooting skills.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, routing).
  • Familiarity with operating systems (e.g., Linux, Windows) at a user level.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to work night shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in a NOC (Network Operations Center) or help desk environment.
  • Basic knowledge of network monitoring tools.
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar entry-level IT certifications.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation.
