Job Description

We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable Stable Hands to join our team in Banff, Alberta. This role is perfect for individuals with a genuine passion for horses and a strong work ethic, ready to embrace early mornings and the rewarding demands of equestrian care. As a Stable Hand, you will be integral to the daily operation of our stables, ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our beloved horses, and maintaining a clean and organized environment. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily horse care tasks including feeding, watering, and grooming.
  • Clean and maintain stalls, paddocks, and stable areas to the highest standards.
  • Turn horses out to pasture and bring them in as scheduled.
  • Assist with tacking up and untacking horses for rides, ensuring equipment is clean and in good repair.
  • Monitor horses for any signs of injury, illness, or distress and report promptly to management.
  • Support with basic veterinary care and farrier visits as directed.
  • Organize and maintain feed rooms, tack rooms, and other stable facilities.
  • Assist with grounds maintenance around the stable, including fencing and pathways.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and animal welfare guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with other stable staff and ride guides to ensure smooth operations.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated passion for horses and animal welfare.
  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy feed sacks (up to 50 lbs) and hay bales.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of horse behavior and handling (or a strong willingness to learn).
  • Effective communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a stable or with livestock.
  • Knowledge of basic horse first aid.
  • Experience operating small farm machinery (e.g., tractors, ATVs) is a plus.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
