Job Description
Are you passionate about gaming? Do you have an eagle eye for detail and a knack for finding glitches? Microsoft is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Playtesters to join our team in Topeka, KS. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who want to contribute directly to the quality and enjoyment of our next-generation gaming experiences.
As an Immediate Hire Playtester, you will be on the front lines, playing unreleased games and providing critical feedback to our development teams. You’ll work in a dynamic, collaborative environment, helping us identify bugs, usability issues, and areas for improvement before our products reach millions of players worldwide. No prior experience is required – we’ll provide all the training you need during our comprehensive orientation program! This is an on-site, full-time position based in our Topeka office. You will start immediately after completing your paid orientation.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute detailed test plans and checklists across various gaming platforms.
- Thoroughly play through designated sections of games, identifying and documenting bugs, glitches, and errors.
- Provide clear, concise, and constructive written and verbal feedback on gameplay, mechanics, balance, and overall user experience.
- Reproduce identified issues to assist developers in troubleshooting and resolution.
- Collaborate effectively with game designers, developers, and fellow QA testers.
- Maintain accurate records of testing activities and bug reports.
- Adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines regarding unreleased content.
Required Skills
- A genuine passion for video games and a strong interest in their development.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a keen eye for inconsistencies.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to follow instructions meticulously and work independently as well as part of a team.
- Basic computer literacy and comfort with various gaming consoles/platforms.
- Proactive attitude and a desire to contribute to product quality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with different game genres and platforms (PC, console, mobile).
- Previous experience with bug tracking software (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jira) is a plus, but not required.
- Ability to quickly learn new tools and processes.
