Job Description
Are you looking for a dynamic, hands-on role to support essential services during peak periods? Canada Post is seeking enthusiastic and reliable Postie Assistants for seasonal work in Halifax. This role is crucial for ensuring timely mail and parcel delivery during our busiest seasons, supporting our regular letter carriers and helping us meet our commitment to Canadians. You will assist with sorting, loading, and sometimes delivering mail and parcels, working both independently and as part of a dedicated team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist letter carriers with sorting, preparing, and loading mail and parcels for delivery.
- Support route sequencing and organization of delivery items.
- Potentially assist with delivery on foot or by vehicle, as required.
- Maintain a high standard of safety and security protocols.
- Provide excellent customer service when interacting with the public.
- Adhere to all Canada Post policies and procedures.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and carry mail/parcels up to 50 lbs (22.7 kg).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable and punctual.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays during peak season.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a physical, outdoor, or delivery-related role.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Familiarity with local streets and addresses in Halifax.
