Job Description

We are seeking an innovative and highly motivated Pharmaceutical Chemist to join our high-end biotech research and development team in Little Rock, AR. This is a pivotal role for a chemist eager to push the boundaries of pharmaceutical science, focusing on the synthesis, characterization, and optimization of novel therapeutic candidates. The successful candidate will play a critical role in our drug discovery pipeline, contributing to the development of life-changing medicines. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, synthesize, and characterize novel small molecules for various therapeutic targets.
  • Develop and optimize synthetic routes for target compounds, ensuring purity and yield.
  • Utilize advanced analytical techniques (NMR, MS, HPLC, IR) for structural elucidation and compound characterization.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with biologists, pharmacologists, and formulators to advance drug candidates.
  • Contribute to project planning, experimental design, and data interpretation.
  • Maintain detailed records of experimental procedures, results, and findings in electronic lab notebooks.
  • Present research findings effectively in team meetings and to broader scientific audiences.
  • Stay current with scientific literature and new technologies in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery.

Required Skills

  • Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in synthetic organic chemistry, preferably in a pharmaceutical or biotech setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in multi-step organic synthesis, reaction mechanisms, and retrosynthetic analysis.
  • Proficiency in operating and interpreting data from analytical instruments (NMR, MS, HPLC).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with purification techniques (flash chromatography, preparative HPLC).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with parallel synthesis or automated chemistry platforms.
  • Familiarity with computational chemistry tools and molecular modeling software.
  • Knowledge of drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics (DMPK) principles.
  • Prior experience in a GLP/GMP regulated environment.
  • Proven track record of scientific publications or patent applications.
