Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic WFH Community Moderator to join our team and help foster a vibrant and supportive online environment for Buffer users across various platforms. This is a 100% remote position, allowing you to work from the comfort of your home. You will be instrumental in ensuring our community guidelines are followed, facilitating positive interactions, and directly supporting users with their questions and feedback. The ideal candidate will have a passion for community building, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You will be the friendly face of Buffer in our online spaces, helping to create an inclusive and engaging experience for everyone.

Key Responsibilities

  • Actively monitor and moderate user-generated content across Buffer's online groups and forums (e.g., Facebook groups, Discord channels, in-app communities) to ensure compliance with community guidelines.
  • Engage with community members, answering questions, providing guidance, and fostering positive discussions.
  • Identify and address inappropriate content or behavior swiftly and professionally, including spam, harassment, and misinformation.
  • Escalate complex technical issues or sensitive user concerns to the relevant internal teams (e.g., customer support, product development).
  • Help organize and facilitate online events, discussions, or Q&A sessions to boost community engagement.
  • Gather and report community feedback, trends, and insights to inform product improvements and content strategy.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of community moderation policies and best practices.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of Buffer's products and features to provide accurate and helpful information to users.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (1+ year) in online community moderation or social media management.
  • Excellent written communication skills with a friendly, professional, and empathetic tone.
  • Strong understanding of online community dynamics and best practices for fostering positive interactions.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work environment.
  • Proficiency with common social media platforms and online communication tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to de-escalate conflicts.
  • High level of integrity and discretion when handling sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Buffer or other social media management tools.
  • Familiarity with community platforms like Discord, Slack, or dedicated forum software.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS for content formatting (not essential, but a plus).
  • Experience in customer support or a user-facing role.
  • A genuine passion for social media and online content creation.
